After-School Program

Right off the school bus, our students walk into a safe and welcoming environment here at Seneca Street. Our K-12th grade students arrive from 2:30-4:30pm. They come into the building with a warm welcome, grab a snack, and sit down to chat and process the long school day. Afterwards, they are encouraged to complete their homework by the SSCDC staff, volunteer mentors and Daemen University service learning students. During this time students without schoolwork can complete educational activity sheets to earn Seneca Street dollars, these dollars are saved by the students and used to buy their favorite items in our very own store each Monday. Highschool students that attend can choose to remain downstairs or head up to their own quiet space in the “Teen Room”, where they have access to the Teen Program Director for assistance, the computer lab, smart TV and a comfortable setting.

4:00-4:45pm Once homework’s done, then it’s off to enrichment! Whether it’s Girls On the Run, Boys On the Right Track, Videography, Architecture, Photography, Drawing, Computer Lab, Music Lessons, Crafts, or Cooking, enrichment time gives students in our program the opportunity to expand their horizons and learn healthy habits, taking part in activities they may not otherwise have access to.

4:45-5:15pm Students gather in the dining room for a free healthy dinner, which is provided by Nine’s Food Service.

5:15-5:30pm the children are free to play outdoors or in the gym as parents arrive for pick up time.

After-school at Seneca Street runs Monday/Tuesday and Thursday/Friday from 2:30–5:30pm, Wednesday’s are reserved for the Teen Program participants. Programming takes place September through June, all programs at the CDC are offered free of charge.
